Under the patronage and in the presence of the Minister of Labour Mr. Mustafa Bayram, Al-Mabarrat's schools organized the thirteenth reading week in cooperation with the Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah public library, under the title “We Read So As to Deserve Life”.

The week's proceedings opened with a ceremony held in the Lady Al-Zahraa hall at the Al-Imamain Al-Hasanain complex in Haret Hreik, attended by the Director General of Al-Mabarrat Association Dr. Mohammad Baqer Fadlallah, the directors of the teaching, vocational, care and cultural institutions, the librarians of Al-Mabarrat's institutions, educational and social figures, and a number of students from the various teaching stages.

The Minister of Labour delivered a speech on the occasion in which he affirmed “the importance of reading and its benefits for the individual and society”, holding that “reading is what shortens the time to come, through the knowledge and information it provides that open a person's horizons to the future”

Minister Bayram called for “holding on to reading on paper despite the trend widespread today towards electronic reading”, pointing to “what studies have found regarding the visual memory of what a person sees through screens, which does not exceed 8 seconds”.

The Minister of Labour called on families to “give the subject of reading importance in the age of modern technology, through modelling and positive behaviour towards the book”.

He concluded by affirming “the importance of the reading week organized by Al-Mabarrat for the role it plays in strengthening the relationship between students and books of all kinds”. It should be noted that this year's reading week activities include varied educational events - discussion meetings, story reading, plays and meetings with storytellers - with the participation of writers and specialists in education alongside a number of school librarians, and it will close with a puppet play on the subject of reading.
