Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq (PBUH) Secondary School in Jouya honored its girls who had reached the age of religious maturity at a large ceremony held in the Al-Batoul (PBUH) Hall, sponsored by the General Religious Supervisor at Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association His Eminence Sayyed Dr. Jaafar Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah, and attended by the school's director Mr. Mohammad Haidar Nasrallah, the head of public relations at Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association in the South Ali Ahmad Hussein, and municipal, local, educational, social and cultural figures and the families of the girls coming of age\u2026
The ceremony opened with verses from the Holy Quran in the voice of pupil Hussein Ali Nehme, then the national anthem, after which the girls coming of age entered to the sound of music. They presented a bouquet of anthems entitled \u201cYou Adorned My Life\u201d and \u201cI Have Tended You in My Heart\u201d for the Awaited Imam (AJ) in the atmosphere of the blessed month of Shaaban. Sarah Abbas Shourba and Zahraa Hussein Ahmad then delivered the word of the girls coming of age.
This was followed by the word of the ceremony's patron, His Eminence Sayyed Dr. Jaafar Fadlallah, who dwelt on the philosophy of the hijab in Islam, which sets out from a complete understanding of the sound relationship Islam wants between women and the public sphere. It wants a woman to appear in that sphere through her humanity and not her femininity - a humanity expressed through her knowledge, her competence, her ethics and her contribution to building civilization. This is what society also wants from a man: that he appear through his humanity and not his masculinity\u2026
He added: The matter resembles the standards some professional institutions set for a woman's dress, setting out from the idea of the message the dress conveys to the other, and accordingly what should be emphasized and what should be covered.
He pointed out that the sphere of femininity is the private sphere and not the public one, exactly as is the case with the sphere of masculinity, regardless of how femininity and masculinity differ in many dimensions.
Sayyed Jaafar dwelt on the objection to Taklif ceremonies as a kind of brainwashing or conditioning, explaining that religious maturity is a stage in which a person moves from complete dependence on others to beginning to train themselves to be responsible. This is built on the statement that from now on you are responsible for your actions and will be held to account for them - for raising expectations of a person is a necessary condition for bearing responsibility. By contrast, there are patterns in society that refuse to bring a person out of the sphere of childhood even when they show a high level of maturity and good sense. He pointed to the example of creative people who had not reached the age of eighteen and were able to create what adults could not, once conditions were secured that recognized their maturity and gave them confidence in their ability to achieve and a sense of responsibility.
Fadlallah concluded by addressing the girls coming of age with congratulations and guidance, urging them at this stage to be careful of five things: to keep a constant bond with God, whose pillar is prayer; to ask many questions so as to learn what they do not know; for each of them to seek out her point of strength and her passion in order to develop it and to bring out from it what is hidden in her character, whether as scientific, literary, intellectual or artistic creativity; to guard their time from being wasted; and to preserve a strong relationship with their families.
