Within the framework of cooperation between the Educational Centre for Research and Development and the faculties of education in Lebanon, the Faculty of Education at the University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon hosted a delegation from the centre headed by its president Mr. George Nohra, its educational adviser Dr. Jihad Sleiba, the coordinator of the technical units Mr. Bassem Issa, and the head of the project implementation unit Mr. Ali Zeaiter. They were received by the faculty's dean Dr. Walid Hammoud and the heads of the faculty's departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the outset the faculty's dean welcomed the Educational Centre's delegation, noting the long-standing experience of Al-Mabarrat's institutions and their participation in the curriculum development workshops launched by the centre more than 20 years ago, which are today being continued with the Faculty of Education at the university and its academic working team, and the roles the faculty can take on in developing the curricula, training teachers and producing scientific research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part the centre's president thanked the Faculty of Education for the hosting and presented the centre's work strategy, which rests on the importance of the participation of all educational currents - including the private universities - in the Educational Centre's plans, which aim to bring about change and a positive transformation for education in Lebanon. He also presented the many projects the centre has completed in a few months (the eBook, the reduction of the curricula, the unified data framework between the centre and the ministry, drawing up a full plan for implementing curriculum development, producing digital resources, setting up a training management system TMS and others\u2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants discussed the importance of cooperation between the centre and the Faculty of Education in including the subject of teaching and caring for the gifted and high-achieving within the new curriculum plan, by preparing activities and packages within the teaching units that respond to these pupils' needs; preparing a guide to educational terminology and the way of employing and using it in studies, research and teaching curricula; in addition to the possibility of the special education department team taking part in setting a mechanism to unify the indicators pointing to the presence of learning difficulties at the level of the nine diagnostic centres the Educational Centre will establish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
