The Doha Al-Mabarrat Educational and Care Complex in Khaldeh received a delegation of European Parliament members from France and Belgium, on a visit aimed at learning about the repercussions of the war in Lebanon and at becoming acquainted with the humanitarian efforts made by Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association in sheltering displaced families and caring for orphans and affected households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the Association's officials reviewed the response plan it has followed since the war broke out, in which a decision was taken to open the complex's doors to displaced families despite the absence of prior funding, in response to growing humanitarian needs, while at the same time maintaining the continuity of the educational and social mission of the institutions operating within the complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al-Mabarrat's administration also gave a presentation on the Association's situation. It runs more than 40 institutions and centers across the Lebanese regions, including schools, orphan care institutions, vocational institutes and a university, in addition to specialized institutions for people with special needs, health care and the elderly, employing more than five thousand staff. It affirmed that its work depends primarily on individual donations and charitable sponsorships, while maintaining its independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting addressed the challenges imposed by the war, particularly the suspension of work at a number of institutions in the South and the rising number of children who have lost their breadwinner, with the Association receiving more than a thousand new applications for social care and sponsorship, and seeking to expand its capacity to respond to these needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation members toured the complex's facilities and saw the sections sheltering displaced families and the services provided to them, including the central kitchen that provides daily meals for around 1,600 beneficiaries, in addition to health, psychological and social care services and recreational activities for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation also heard testimonies from a number of displaced families who described their suffering from displacement and the loss of their homes, affirming their attachment to the right to return to their villages despite the scale of the destruction they have suffered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the close of the visit, the European delegation members praised the humanitarian and educational efforts made by Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association amid difficult circumstances, valuing the model of community solidarity it offers in caring for displaced families and orphans, and affirming the importance of conveying this experience to European institutions in support of civilians' rights and in strengthening relief and development efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For its part, Al-Mabarrat's administration stressed that the scale of humanitarian needs requires stronger partnerships and international support to ensure the continuity of the services provided to displaced families, orphans and households affected by the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
