The Dar Al-Aman centre for the care of the elderly, belonging to Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association in Abbassieh (the South), hosted for the fourth consecutive year 1,600 elderly men and women from the villages surrounding the centre at Ramadan tables during the blessed month of Ramadan.
A statement from Al-Mabarrat noted that \u201cthese group iftars come within the home's charitable campaign \u201cRamadan Is Sweeter with Our Elders\u201d, which the home launches during the blessed month every year. It is one of the varied initiatives aimed at bringing delight to and communicating with the elderly, and at encouraging members of society to take the initiative of devoting time to sharing with others during the blessed month of Ramadan.\u201d
On this occasion the home's director Asaad Haidar said: \u201cThese iftars come within the framework of Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association's social responsibility programmes. These programmes have a great effect in enriching the lives of those who benefit from their services, and they also help in society's cohesion and in bringing delight to the elderly among the fathers and mothers who helped to raise us and to give us our comfort - and now it is our turn to repay them and to offer them support.\u201d
For her part the home's public relations director Ghazwa Haidar pointed to \u201cthe home's keenness to host such events, which make the elderly happy and bring them joy, for their presence with a number of guests satisfies in them the sense of being in a family atmosphere and makes them feel the spirit of the blessed month\u201d. She noted that \u201cthe home has grown used to hosting this kind of event annually in cooperation with various social bodies\u201d.
