God willed this month to be a month in which we recover our humanity, that it should pull us out of our selfishness and our absorption in ourselves, so that the self should not be the axis of our relations, our positions, our support, our rejection, our love and our hatred.”

He held that we “can advance steps forward when each of us comes to think that his happiness is attained only through making others happy, that his stability is attained only through the stability of others, that his security is attained only if he preserves the security of others, and that his sect cannot achieve its interests except in the shade of the interests of others. In this spirit these institutions and all the institutions of goodness were built, and by it we can continue; and in this spirit we enjoyed freedom, honour and victory. Our standing on this land bears witness to the victory of the year 2000, for it would not have come about had each of us thought of his own life or his own security; rather it came about because the thinking was of security for the homeland and strength for the homeland. And we cannot complete that except in this spirit.”

He added: “In this spirit we can build a homeland we want free of corruption and the corrupt and of those who tamper with people's livelihood and their future. For a homeland is built only by those whose hearts beat with goodness for all the sons of their homeland, those who see that it is their right to live, but not at the expense of the security, the future, the freedom and the honour of the human being of this country.” He pointed out that “through this spirit we stand with every wronged person; we stand with the Palestinian people in their defence of their rights and against the deal by which Israel is meant to be the great power in the region, amid isolated and weak Arab margins. And we regard this position not as a favour we bestow on anyone, but rather as being for our own sake, because if we allow the Palestinian cause and the cause of Jerusalem to fall, then with their fall many homelands and sanctities will fall.”

He affirmed: “In the same spirit, we shall stand in the face of the injustice Iran is subjected to through tightened sanctions after the American administration's failure to abide by the nuclear agreement. We regard them as unjust sanctions, because they punish for something that did not happen, by the testimony of the Atomic Energy Agency, which affirmed that Iran abides by the nuclear agreement to the letter.”

He continued: “We stand in the face of every injustice to which the peoples of the region, and any spot in the world, are subjected, and in that we do not distinguish between one injustice and another - there is no acceptable injustice and unacceptable injustice, as we see in our reality where injustice from my sect or my denomination or my position is acceptable while it is rejected from others, and likewise corruption and deviation. We are here to affirm this choice through our sense of responsibility towards those whom God has made a trust upon our necks: the orphans, the social cases, the disabled, the elderly and the sick, and everyone who needs us to extend to them the hand of care and goodness; to be a support for these institutions, each with his own role - with money, with offering advice and counsel, and with constructive criticism - and to stand in the face of those who do not want this journey to continue, those who stir up clamour and irresponsible and illegitimate talk, which will harm no one but thousands of orphans, disabled, elderly, sick and needy people.”

He stressed that “the choice we took together is that the journey of the institutions of goodness should continue - and it has continued, its constant wellspring being hearts that have believed in goodness and work for it. And our keenness will remain that they stay on the path of their founder, and that they not turn into an inheritance for an individual, as some like to say, or for a family, or for anyone's account; they will remain for God and in His path and for the service of His dependants and His people, all His people.”

[255
275
post-4013","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-255","tag-275
["GET
