Al-Mabarrat receives more orphans and social cases, and because their numbers are increasing a new building for Imam Al-Rida Mabarrat is currently being erected. We shall continue to build capacities and to keep pace with everything new, in pursuit of sustainable human development and in completion of the journey of giving.”

Fadlallah delivered a speech in which he said: “The reality of despotism, corruption and subordination is a key to crises and tensions and an entry point for all the divisions, the policies of discrimination, the internal wars and the throwing of oneself into the embrace of foreign powers. Therefore we are in the greatest need of recourse to values and of serious, sincere dialogue within our homeland - the dialogue that extends to securing the interests of everyone. Sincere dialogue alone is what can save us from our painful conditions, from this destruction that is affecting everyone at the level of the homeland and of the Arab and Islamic world.”

He added: “In Lebanon we must appreciate the role of the security forces for the accomplishment they have achieved and are achieving in their pursuit of the terrorist cells through pre-emptive operations. And you too - we greatly appreciate your presence, for your carrying with us the trust of these institutions, which were and will remain from you and to you. We shall keep the institutions' promise to be in the service of the human being of this country, far from all calculations.”

He asked: “Do we not have the right in this country for a person to feel his humanity, far from his sectarian, denominational and political position? We lack nothing of what others have; we lack neither wealth nor means. What we lack in this East, where religious conscience is what is influential and present, is to recover the humanity of the religions and to bring up our generations upon it - because the religions came for the sake of the human being, so that he might live free and dignified in this world and not submit to a tyrant and a despot. But if we disagree, it is not permissible for us to bear rancour towards one another and to hate one another.”

He continued: “Religion was not the cause of the wars, nor is it now the cause of everything we suffer from, such that some should say: come, let us abolish religion. All we can do is restore religion to its purity, its cleanness and its mercifulness. The cause always lies with those who exploit religion for the sake of their greed and their projects, and in that they make use of ignorance, fanaticisms and mistaken policies. Yes, amid this ongoing exploitation of religion we need to fortify it by clarifying its correct concepts, rulings and laws; we need to fortify the human being and to develop an open, tolerant, humane religious discourse; we need to consolidate the climate of unity at the level of the denominations, the religions and the homeland, and to strengthen the will to freedom, dignity and independence; we need to affirm the values that govern religion - the values of love, mercy and human dignity.”

He concluded: “At the same time as we stress national balance, we point out that the constitutions of states are not sacred, and that the development and progress of countries depends on amending their constitutions so that they are in harmony with their age. But if there are those who speak of the necessity of making amendments at the level of the constitution, we hold that they should concern everything that takes the country out of a state of sects to a state of the human being, according to a strategic plan that takes the country out of the sectarian and fanatical culture - after the facts have proved that sectarianism does not build a homeland and cannot produce stability. We must be aware of the truth that what protects us in Lebanon and makes all our feet firm in it is not the sectarian or denominational heading that some seek to grow strong through, but rather our unity and everyone's sense of justice and human dignity in the shade of the state of citizenship.

[249
270
post-4450","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-gm-news","tag-270
["GET
