The Director General of Al-Mabarrat Dr. Mohammad Baqer Fadlallah addressed a message to teachers on Teacher's Day in which he took up the challenges facing teaching institutions and teachers on more than one level, calling for \u201cnot breaking before ordeals, calamities and hardship of living, and for possessing the courage of the prophets and their awareness\u201d, and stressing \u201cthe necessity of possessing the value of patience and of not despairing during crises, as an effective tool in the processes of learning and teaching\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said: \u201cToday we hurt together and rejoice together; we sense your fatigue and your pain, we feel the hardship you face in toil and difficulty - following the example of the prophets and messengers who came before us, raising our heads before the people of corruption, with a spirit of prophetic determination and its firm will, exactly as Moses faced Pharaoh, as Christ faced the merchants of the Temple, and as the Seal of the Prophets faced the worshippers of money and idols.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He continued: \u201cFaith requires of us that we face crises and continue on the mission-driven path without falling into despair under the influence of the negative atmosphere we face in the economy, in society and in politics, which invites tension and a turning away from thinking about responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He recalled the counsels of Al-Mabarrat's founder the Marja Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah, who \u201cused to urge us in his sermons to draw from the lives of the prophets the lesson of not despairing and not falling before challenges, of steadfastness and of making strength, of changing ourselves from within, and of living a great hope in God Almighty; and of the necessity for educators to possess endurance and perseverance and to avoid any negative reaction when any personal, economic or security affliction descends; and that we remain on a path of patience and of overcoming crises as one body, supporting one another, and that we mobilize all the means we possess so as not to turn into darkened souls\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He turned to the challenges thrown up by the coronavirus pandemic, saying: \u201cThe teacher at Al-Mabarrat in this crisis was mission-driven, exerting exhausting efforts to deliver learning to their pupils with much effort and care and by every possible means of communication during the period of distance learning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added: \u201cI do not believe there are many schools in Lebanon that carried out their role in distance teaching via the electronic platform as Al-Mabarrat's schools did, where the giving teacher was patient and unshaken before difficult circumstances and pressures. For that reason enrolment at Al-Mabarrat increased this year, as families sought to protect their children's future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He addressed the teachers, saying: \u201cWe will continue with you in overcoming the psychological pressure weighing on pupils and families; we will deal in a mission-driven way with every learning loss in a pupil; and we will strengthen our pupils' expressive and writing capacities and their spirit of competition while continuing to discover talents and abilities. All of this requires of us and of the administrations that we provide psychological and social support to the staff so that they may live in dignity despite the harshness of the circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He continued: \u201cWe will remain with you at the level of our society's trust in us; we will develop capacities and achieve advanced methods in education and teaching, and lighten as much as we can the burdens of the living hardship. Al-Mabarrat's initiatives will continue to seek to ease the economic crisis by raising salaries and providing educational, health and other assistance that achieves some measure of job stability, through its productive institutions, the rationalizing of spending, and its efforts with people of goodness to support all its institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Director General of Al-Mabarrat concluded: \u201cOn your day, toiling teacher, a thousand roses and more - for you are the fragrance of roses that we breathe in as a pure sustenance, and Al-Mabarrat is scented with your goodly perfume.
