Sayyed Ali Fadlallah received a delegation from the Women's Committee of Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association, in the presence of the Association's Public Relations Coordinator, Sheikh Fouad Khreiss. They briefed him on the election of a new administrative board and reviewed with him the activities the committee plans to carry out, foremost among them the central women's iftar during the blessed month of Ramadan.
At the start, His Eminence welcomed the delegation, valuing the committee's efforts and commending the leading role women play in building a strong and cohesive society by raising an aware, educated and cultured generation able to face every challenge that may buffet our reality. He noted that women are partners to men in every position, and called for strengthening their role and giving them the opportunity to express the energies and capabilities they possess, rather than marginalizing them or confining them within a narrow, limited frame under particular headings and pretexts.
His Eminence praised the active work of women at Al-Mabarrat Association and their distinctive presence at every level, something that stood out clearly during the Zionist aggression on Lebanon through the campaigns and social provision the committee carried out.
His Eminence affirmed that, as an Islamic association, we have our convictions and our own character, but we carry a message of openness and love toward all the other components of this nation. We believe in open circles, not closed ones. He noted that a nation is built only through consensus, dialogue and coming together, and that there is much common ground that can serve as a sound foundation for any serious dialogue among the parties.
He closed by saying: We work in a spirit of dialogue and openness, and the legacy we carry from the Sayyed (may God be pleased with him) is far from stoking partisan fervor and fanaticism. He called on all political forces to facilitate the formation of the government rather than entrenching themselves behind this or that factional interest.
