Following the explosion that shook Lebanon on the fourth of August in the port area, Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association launched the “My Heart to Your Heart” campaign to help ease the explosion's repercussions on people. The campaign included many initiatives aimed at supporting the families of the martyrs and the wounded and standing alongside them in this difficult situation.

In this context the Director General of Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association Dr. Mohammad Baqer Fadlallah pointed out that “this campaign came as a practical expression of the solidarity of Al-Mabarrat and its institutions with their people, whom this grievous calamity struck”.

He added: “From the first moment of the explosion, Bahman Hospital, which belongs to Al-Mabarrat, hastened to summon all the doctors working in it and set up field clinics in the hospital's courtyard, where it received about 400 wounded people, provided them with the appropriate treatments, and carried out urgent surgical operations on a number of them - as well as holding a blood donation campaign for the wounded on the night of the explosion, after which the campaign covered the various Lebanese regions.”

Dr. Fadlallah noted that “Al-Mabarrat hastened, from the day after the explosion, to offer help in the search for the missing, in cooperation with the Lebanese Army, the Red Cross and the Beirut municipality. It also worked on forming teams of volunteers from the Al-Mabarrat Scouts and from the graduates belonging to the Al-Mabarrat Graduates Association, which were distributed across the affected neighbourhoods to help in cleaning homes, shops and streets and to help transport some household furniture for a number of affected families to different places in Lebanon, and to secure lorries for this purpose”.

The Director General of Al-Mabarrat explained that “the association made visits to the families of the martyrs during which it offered condolences and financial and food assistance to them, as well as offering sponsorship for the martyrs' children covering: teaching, food, clothing, medical treatment, psychological support and social support for the martyrs' families. The number of children sponsored so far has reached 15 boys and girls.”

He continued: “In this context too, Al-Mabarrat distributed hundreds of food parcels to the affected families in the various areas struck by the explosion. It also worked on providing psychological support to those affected by pitching a tent in the Karantina area and using it as well as a dispensary for free medical consultations, providing samples of medicines and distributing masks, sanitizers and awareness booklets about the coronavirus. It also held two giving exhibitions (clothes and footwear) in the Karantina and Basta areas, from which more than 1,000 families benefited.”

It is noted that Al-Mabarrat had its own share of the explosion, which reached its institutions: some of its offices in Beirut were damaged, as were some of its institutions - Al-Hadi Institution for Hearing and Visual Impairment and Language and Communication Disorders, the Lady Khadija Mabarra, Al-Kawthar High School, and the University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon - and it worked on repairing all this damage.
