The scholar Sayyed Ali Fadlallah visited Imam Al-Baqir (PBUH) Secondary School and the Imam Zain Al-Abidin (PBUH) Charity in Hermel, where he was received by the school's director Sheikh Cesar Al-Sailami and the teaching and administrative bodies.
His Eminence then held an extended meeting with the teachers and supervisors in the school's hall, which opened with verses from the Holy Quran, then the national anthem. The charity's children presented an artistic segment inspired by the occasion, followed by a welcoming word. His Eminence then delivered a speech in which he began by expressing his happiness and delight at being in this place, which was dear to the heart and soul of the Sayyed (RA), and where he was bound by a relationship of affection and love with its people - people who lived deprivation as a result of failed economic policies that neglected this region and did not care for it, though it has made sacrifices and given martyrs in defence of this homeland, yet has not received its natural due and still suffers deprivation on every level…
His Eminence commended the mission-driven role played by those working at this institution in various fields, appreciating all the efforts and energies expended - especially in these difficult circumstances - to develop it and to preserve its distinction and its exemplary image in what it offers of knowledge, upbringing and ethics.
His Eminence addressed the staff, saying: You are this institution's pillars and supports, and thanks to you it has reached this important standing. It is therefore the responsibility of all of us to preserve this level of brilliance by keeping pace with every academic and research development happening in the world. He affirmed that this institution will remain secure and that it will stand beside its staff to provide them with the means of a dignified life…
His Eminence affirmed that these institutions were built on people's trust and their donations; they came into being for their sake and in order to raise a mission-driven generation that carries national, human, faith and ethical values and concepts, and that seeks to build bridges, to communicate and to be open, far from withdrawal, closed-mindedness and bigotry.
He pointed out the importance of these institutions in these regions, where they have helped to carry their concerns and lift them out of their difficult reality, and have been able to produce an educated, mission-driven generation that helps raise up its own reality and its homeland.
He held that the state's raising of the customs dollar leads to higher prices and to a lowering of the value of salaries, and worsens the crisis and people's suffering. He called on the state to seek to ease their suffering instead of taking decisions that increase it.
His Eminence called for hastening the presidential election amid the positive atmosphere the region is witnessing, expressing the hope that the solutions put forward would be dealt with responsibly, realistically and humanely, in order to rescue the homeland and the people.
Separately, His Eminence visited, at the head of a delegation, the Mufti of Hermel Sheikh Ali Taha and discussed with him a number of matters of concern to the region.
