The general commission of the Al-Mabarrat Scouts Association held a central meeting entitled “The Approach of Scout Volunteering and the Value of Communication in the Age of Digitization” in the hall of Al-Kawthar High School on the Airport Road, with the participation of the leaders of the association's regional commissions.
It began with a speech by the association's president Dr. Mohammad Baqer Fadlallah, in which he spoke “of the pressing need for leaders in the association and for others who wished to be in Lebanon's moral and humanitarian army, as the Marja Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah described it - the army that chose for itself to soothe psychological and social wounds”.
He stressed “the necessity of volunteering amid the difficult circumstances our beloved country Lebanon is passing through, whether economic, health-related or otherwise, and the human value this quality carries”, noting “the importance of communication, beginning with the scout member, passing through the families and reaching the scout leaders among themselves, and of working to attract new leaders and members”.
At the close of his speech he spoke of “digitization and its importance, while stressing the human aspect of safeguarding others' privacy as we safeguard our own, in a virtual world in which all data has become open and available to others”. He described today's scout generation as the fifth generation, calling for “building psychological and spiritual immunity to face the complex world with its balances, its clashes, its problems and all the other similar challenges”.
The meeting featured a training workshop on “the techniques of effective communication in scout work”, delivered by the university lecturer Grace Hawi, and another on “the effective leader during crises”, delivered by the former general commissioner of the Scouts of Lebanon Federation Commander Wassim Al-Zein.
