The Scouts of Future Lebanon - South Commission hosted children from the scouts of Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association on a tour of Sidon's historical landmarks, on the occasion of Children's Day.
The tour covered: the sea castle of Sidon, the soap museum, a number of Sidon's old quarters and its heritage markets, ending at Khan Al-Franj, where the children of the two associations shared recreational and scouting activities and competitive contests.
The commissioner of the south in the Future Scouts Mustafa Habli held that “this activity is to consolidate friendship and the spirit of solidarity among the scouts, in action and in confirmation of the principles of the scouting movement, especially as it coincides with the centenary of the launch of the world cub scouts movement”.
He said: “We wanted to meet with the Al-Mabarrat Scouts so that it should be a positive imprint in our scouting and national life. We have likewise been keen on meeting and on brotherhood with all the Lebanese scouting associations we meet with within the Scouts of Lebanon Union. It is also an occasion for the new generation of scouts to become acquainted with the history of their homeland by visiting its historical and archaeological landmarks, so as to strengthen national belonging.”
For his part, the public relations member at Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association in the south Ali Ghabris pointed to “the importance of these activities in affirming cooperation, amity and love, not only among the members of the scouting bodies but among all the sons of the homeland”.
He said: “This is the first activity we carry out with the Scouts of Future Lebanon, and it is a great honour for us to be among our people in Sidon. What is happening is a translation of the spirit of love and peace and of the values called for by His Eminence Allama Marja' Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah, may God have mercy on him, who affirmed meeting among the Lebanese and the protection of civil peace. God willing this meeting will be generalized among all the components of Lebanese society, so that we may say to everyone that we are brothers in this homeland and love one another; and if we are not joined together, this country cannot move forward.”
