Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association held numerous celebrations on the occasion of Teachers' Day at all its educational, teaching and care institutions. For the occasion the director general of Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association Dr Mohammad Baqir Fadlallah addressed a message to the teachers in which he called on them to adopt “professional mentoring, by learning how to build the capacities of the other through professional learning founded on knowledge, practice, attitude and learning by experience and from the heart of daily practice”.

Fadlallah explained the meaning of professional mentoring, saying: “It is an embracing of the pupil and of the colleague - whether a teacher, a coordinator, a care supervisor or an administrator, each according to his position - with guidance, support, the building of confidence and direction towards independent self-development. It is a message-driven task represented by helping the other to advance through a partnership marked by a bond of trust and respect and by offering guidance and encouragement.”

Fadlallah called for “rooting job practices in a way that turns administrative development from theorizing frameworks, through short- and long-range strategic plans, into a movement not only in the practical perspective but in the applied one too”.

He spoke about the teacher as mentor, saying: “The teacher, whether an instructor or an educating supervisor, is the base of the pyramid and its apex. He is the learner who benefits at every moment from his pupils' learning difficulties so as to prepare himself anew; he alone is in contact with those souls in their needs; and he is always in need of drawing from life the strength of patience, forbearance and endurance. He senses fear from a harsh look that escaped him and a hurtful word that slipped from between his lips; he is the watcher who is watched, and he is held responsible by everyone above him; and he is close to colleagues whose cares are his cares, sharing with them experience and advice and extending to them a helping hand with an initiative that seeks neither thanks nor reward.”
