Al-Mabarrat Charitable Association congratulated the Lebanese on the coming of the blessed month of Ramadan, wishing that “God may bring it back to them with goodness, prosperity and blessing, and that Lebanon may enjoy security and prosperity and that its state may change to what is better and finer”.

For the occasion the association issued a report reviewing the humanitarian initiatives it carried out in 2021 across the various Lebanese regions.

The report stated: “Al-Mabarrat, despite the challenges, was able to continue offering its quality services in its institutions to orphans, the poor, people with special needs, the elderly and the sick, and stood as usual alongside its people and supported them during the multiple crises that caused the deterioration of their living conditions.”

The report notes “that the scale of spending on social initiatives for the past year reached ninety-three billion eight hundred and seven million Lebanese pounds”.

It adds: “Al-Mabarrat's care institutions worked on offering support and backing to the orphans by securing quality teaching for the children and removing the obstacles of distance learning, in addition to offering grants to those who completed the secondary stage so that they could enter university, and contributed to paying the fees of students who were at risk of stopping their university studies.”

The report continues: “These institutions distributed food supplies to the orphans' families monthly, and financial assistance to the poorest families among them, in addition to securing furniture, heaters, clothing, footwear and cleaning materials, and helping to restore homes and pay the rent of homes for some families, through to covering the costs of treatment in hospitals. They worked on securing iftar and suhoor meals for the orphans' families throughout the blessed month of Ramadan, as well as securing the eid gift and eid clothing at the Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha for 4,000 orphan boys and girls.”

The report explains “that Al-Mabarrat's academic and vocational schools and its special education schools worked on ensuring in-person teaching on the maximum possible number of days, launching an electronic platform for distance learning, uploading thousands of assignments, and active engagement through the online meetings. They also worked on securing educational sponsorships for the neediest students, covering: the fees, the books, the school uniform, transport, and logistical requirements such as phones, tablet/laptop devices, internet subscriptions and free teaching support hours.”

According to the report, “Al-Mabarrat's schools provided students with special needs with treatments and medical aids, and financial assistance for surgical operations (corneal transplants, fitting of lenses and batteries), hearing aids for the deaf children and visual aids for the partially sighted, and medication for chronic illnesses for the students who need it, foremost among them students on the autism spectrum”.

The report points to “Al-Mabarrat's offerings within the framework of the charitable programmes born from the womb of the social and economic crisis, where Al-Mabarrat supported the salaries of those working in its institutions after the deterioration in the value of salaries, and distributed thousands of food parcels and large quantities of diesel to families of limited means in the regions”.

The report states that Al-Mabarrat “provided, through its health centres, free tests for needy families in the various Lebanese regions and consultations for patients in the various specialties. It also provided free health services for the elderly in their homes, alongside securing medication for chronic illnesses and the medical supplies they need on a monthly basis. Through the Al-Mabarrat Scouts it also carried out psychological and community support activities for children, adolescents and the elderly in many Lebanese towns.”

In closing the report, Al-Mabarrat extended its thanks and appreciation “to all those who enriched its charitable and developmental journey, who contributed to raising the edifices of righteousness in Lebanon and abroad; to the sponsors of orphans, the public and private institutions, the diplomatic missions, the international organizations and the local bodies, and all those whose good souls were generous in giving and whose noble hands were open in offering, and who drew a smile on the faces of the orphans, the people with special needs, the elderly and the needy who live in the care of Al-Mabarrat”.

It affirmed that it “will remain a humanitarian institution as its founder the Marja Allama Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah (may God be pleased with him) wanted it to be, working independently in the field of giving, for the good of people, all people, seeking the pleasure of God Almighty and supporting social stability in the homeland, however severe and worsening the ordeals may be”.
