Al-Rahma Secondary School honored its boy pupils approaching the age of religious maturity at a distinctive celebration, inviting them to a Ramadan iftar table at the Darb Al-Qamar restaurant. This was in the presence of the director of the religious supervision department His Eminence Sheikh Abbas Hallal, the director of Al-Rahma Secondary School Ms. Sulaf Hashem, the director of the third cycle Sister Fatima Ghandour, the coordinator of the Islamic education and Holy Quran unit Sister Linda Hamzeh, the student activities section, the head supervisor Mr. Ali Badran, the third cycle class supervisor Mr. Hussein Al-Ezzi, and a number of teachers.
The ceremony began with verses from the Wise Remembrance recited by pupil Mahdi Al-Haraka, followed by a word on behalf of the boys coming of age given by pupil Ali Tabaja, in which he thanked the school and the Islamic education section for the religious and moral preparation for the occasion.
The ceremony's patron, Sheikh Abbas Hallal, spoke in his address about Imam Ali's (PBUH) counsel to his two sons, stressing the importance of bearing the religious responsibility of enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and of holding to the ethical counsels in order to raise society and advance it.
He also pointed to the importance of knowledge for Muslim youth, through which they keep pace with development and overcome the enemy, because our war with him is a war of minds and of knowledge. The celebration concluded with a “question and answer” segment run by the Islamic education coordinator Sister Linda Hamzeh, with gifts distributed to the winners.
