The National Commission for UNESCO, under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Higher Education Marwan Hamadeh and in cooperation with the Imam Al-Hadi Institution for Hearing and Visual Impairment and Language and Communication Disorders, the Lebanese School for the Blind and Deaf and the Social Care Institutions - Islamic Orphanage, organized a theatrical work entitled “My Kite”, presented by students with special needs on the occasion of “Arab Child Day”.

Kmeity
After the national anthem, presented by blind students from Al-Hadi Institution, the project's coordinator Ilham Kmeity delivered a speech in which she said: “People with special needs must be embraced and prepared, because when they go out into the arena of life they must feel that there is someone who embraces them and guides them - especially since they have reached an advanced level of skill that enables them to face society and life.”

Jabbour
The secretary general of the National Commission for UNESCO Dr Zahida Darwiche Jabbour delivered a speech in which she stressed “the importance of the role of the institutions for people with special needs in keeping pace with the capacities of their children and developing them”, adding that the play “My Kite” was a bright station in the humanitarian journey of Al-Hadi Institution.

Kishli
For his part, the representative of the Minister of Education and Higher Education Marwan Hamadeh, Mohieddine Kishli, praised “the efforts of the institutions for people with special needs and the National Commission for UNESCO's support for this category of society”, valuing “the work of the young people”, wishing them “success and more giving”, and calling for “joint work to include people with special needs in society”.

Then began the mime and expressive performance of the play “My Kite”, whose scenario was written by Dana Jammoul, who also produced and directed it. It addresses the world of people with special needs and sheds light on the obstacles they face from their birth and the family's shock, through to the societal impediments that accompany them throughout the journey of their lives and the difficulties that confront them in society.
