His Eminence Allama Sayyed Ali Fadlallah received the Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Hector Hajjar, who offered him congratulations on the coming of the month of Ramadan. The general Lebanese situation was discussed, especially the stifling living crisis and the ministry's cooperation with the charitable associations in confronting it.
Minister Hajjar valued the role of the charitable associations, among them Al-Mabarrat Association, and of the civil institutions in lifting many social, health, psychological and other burdens from citizens' shoulders amid the difficult conditions the state is passing through. He affirmed the importance of coordination with these associations and institutions in confronting the difficult crisis the country is living through, and pointed to his ministry's efforts to work on raising the level of offerings to these institutions and associations, especially those working with increasing activity in the service of the poor, the orphans, the destitute and the needy.
For his part Allama Fadlallah valued the role Minister Hajjar plays and his sensitivity to people's pains and hardships, given the absence of the necessary means at the Lebanese state's disposal. He called for strengthening the relationship between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the care and social institutions in Lebanon, pointing out that people's conditions are growing worse and that the coming stage may be more dangerous, especially when people emerge from the experience of the parliamentary elections to find that problems besiege them on every side. His Eminence called for working within a social emergency plan to face what is coming and to secure the minimum required for people to be able to carry on.
