With the beginning of the continuing Israeli aggression on Gaza and its extension towards the Lebanese border, Al-Mabarrat's care institutions located in the border areas responded rapidly to the crisis by supporting and assisting the orphans and their families and protecting what they could of the institutions' equipment, drawing on their experience during the aggression of July 2006 and on the guide to care work in crises.

In this context the care institutions took the initiative of carrying out measures as follows:

1. Forming a crisis cell and preparing an executive plan for managing the crisis, centred on the educational side for the orphans and the daily-life side for the orphans' families, as well as work on protecting each institution's essential documents and protecting the means of transport, which were distributed among a number of safe locations.

2. Creating a database containing information on the orphans and the institution's staff, setting out their situations in the places to which they were displaced

3. Securing sums of money, food supplies, clothing, footwear, the requirements of distance learning and the requirements of in-person learning - books, notebooks and stationery

4. Overseeing the enrolment of the orphaned children in the Al-Mabarrat schools in Tyre, Nabatieh, Beirut, the Bekaa and Hermel, and enrolling a large number of the children in virtual learning because the Al-Mabarrat schools could no longer accommodate all the displaced children, as well as enrolling them in the meetings devoted to completing the required school assignments.

5. Providing psychosocial support to the children and a hotline service for the families, activating the use of the electronic platform for the children who remain steadfast in their areas, and securing a free internet service for both the children and the teachers who need this service, in order to ensure the continuation of the teaching process.
