The public relations and advertising students at the University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon held an exhibition documenting the most prominent events Lebanon and the Arab world have witnessed from 1916 until today, through the display of dozens of Lebanese newspapers.
The exhibition, which was held over two days, bore the title “101”, in reference to a century and a year of events and press coverage, from numerous newspapers, some of which still exist and some of which have vanished with the passing of the years.
The exhibition, attended by members of the university council and a group of teachers and students, opened with a speech by the student Mohammad Al-Khashen in which he said: “The print press is the foundation that has given much to the homeland and to society; it is the field in which hundreds of writers and journalists excelled, and it must not turn into a forgotten memory despite the course of life and its technological development.”
The director of the Faculty of Media Farouk Rizk praised this kind of cultural activity at the university, affirming that “the University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon will always seek to hold the activities that strengthen knowledge and contribute to building the students' capacities”.
Many of those present appeared moved as they read news from the past in economics, society and sport.
