The Faculty of Education at the University of Sciences and Arts in Lebanon (USAL) organized six workshops echoing teachers' training needs with the start of the new academic year, which ranged between special education, building the scientific and mathematical concept, and assessment for teaching, in addition to two workshops connected with research and self-learning skills, as well as a workshop on communication skills.
131 trainees took part in the workshops, coming from 34 teaching institutions in the various Lebanese regions.
The faculty's dean Dr. Walid Hammoud affirmed “the university's continued commitment to and adoption of a policy of professional development for teachers, as well as its diligent effort to link the theoretical academic frameworks with teaching practice inside the schools, in addition to creating a space of encounter between researchers and educational practitioners”.
He noted that the trainees expressed, through the evaluation forms, their satisfaction with the quality of the activities offered during the workshops, since they are applied and can be transferred into the classroom; they also praised the cheerful family atmosphere that marks the university and that made everyone feel they were in their own institution.”
