The thirteenth internal exhibition of scientific projects was held at Al-Hadi Institution under the title “CHARGE YOUR SKILLS”, with about a hundred pupils and 40 teachers taking part in presenting 38 scientific projects on subjects falling within the fields of science, mathematics, technology and the environment, astronomy and languages, over the course of two days. The projects were judged on the first day by the panel of judges, relying on criteria the most important of which were “the importance of the idea, the scientific research, the team work, the presentation, the cost of the project and whether the project is applicable”.
On the second day the results were announced at a closing ceremony attended by a number of educators and educational supervisors as well as the institution's pupils. The results were announced by the panel in an enthusiastic, competitive atmosphere among the pupils, after which the prizes were distributed across ten categories, with the winners handed gold medals specific to the exhibition, and certificates of participation distributed for all the projects by the administration and the organizing committee. The institution's exhibition this year was distinguished by innovative and outstanding ideas and by the noticeable enthusiasm among the pupils, which contributed to shedding light on the scientific capacities of people with special needs.
The exhibition included varied projects that address the pupils' needs and contribute to applying scientific concepts in a way that brings out the pupils' creativity - every corner of the exhibition being such a project. Among them: the project of agriculture using a modern technique, presented by the pupils of the language disorders section, in which the pupils explain how hydroponic cultivation and mechanical irrigation are carried out, and which falls within the institution's environmental policy; another project for blind pupils, YES WE CAN FEEL, in the technology category, which helps blind pupils to move about without colliding with obstacles; the night clock project in astronomy, in which the pupils devised a night clock that helps a person to determine the times at night through the planets and mathematical theories; the electronic skeleton project in the science category for deaf pupils; and the mathematical circles project in the mathematics category for the pupils of the first cycle, which helps the pupils to carry out arithmetical operations correctly without using a calculator - along with many projects that are considered part of the institution's policy and its strategy of developing scientific projects, bringing out the pupils' capacities and creativity, cooperation and team work, positive scientific competition and the ability to express ideas.
There was a speech by the exhibition's organizing committee, which presented the scientific journey that began at the institution more than thirteen years ago and still continues with creativity and distinction in the ideas and the projects carried out. Light was also shed on the exhibition's title “charge your skills”, which constitutes an opportunity for the pupils to develop their skills and their scientific energies through the strategy of project-based learning.
